ARTICLE I: THE NATURE OF MEMORIAL ENTRIES

Section 1.1 - What You're Claiming

When you claim a memorial plot at Cemetery.rest, you are purchasing a permanent database entry containing your inscription. This entry exists within our database independent of any visual representation.

Section 1.2 - The Art of Visualization

The Groundskeeper provides complimentary artistic visualization of memorial entries across various platforms (VRChat, Minecraft, web interfaces, future platforms). These visualizations:

• Are creative interpretations of your database entry
• Vary significantly between platforms due to technical limitations
• Remain under Groundskeeper's artistic direction
• May evolve as the cemetery grows

Remember: Your memorial is the data. The tombstone is our art.

Section 1.3 - Plot Coordinates

Each memorial is assigned coordinates (e.g., "plotX5Y12"). These indicate your place within the cemetery's coordinate system but do not constitute property ownership.

ARTICLE II: CONTENT STANDARDS

Section 2.1 - Community Standards

Cemetery.rest welcomes diverse expression within the bounds of respectful community standards. The Groundskeeper evaluates content considering:

• Context and intent - profanity within tasteful memorial context may be acceptable
• Respect for others - no harassment, threats, or doxxing
• Community safety - no hate speech, extremism, or explicit content
• Cemetery sanctity - no spam or unauthorized advertising

Section 2.2 - The Groundskeeper's Discretion

Content moderation decisions rest with the Groundskeeper. This discretion allows nuanced judgment while protecting the cemetery's character.

Section 2.3 - Consequences for Violations

Entries violating community standards may be:

• Edited - inscription modified to remove violating content
• Relocated - moved to alternate coordinates
• Removed - database entry deleted in extreme cases

No refunds are provided for moderated content.

Section 2.4 - Unconsecrated Ground

Entries not meeting cemetery standards may be relocated to "Unconsecrated Ground" - designated regions for moderated content. Current Unconsecrated Ground coordinates begin in negative coordinate space.

Section 2.5 - Privacy & Personal Information in Memorials

Protect the privacy of others when creating memorial inscriptions.

Do NOT include:

• Real names of living individuals without their consent
• Full names of deceased individuals if you are not authorized by their estate
• Contact information (phone numbers, addresses, email addresses)
• Social media handles or usernames
• Location details that could identify private residences
• Any information that could be used to doxx or harass individuals

Estate Authorization:

• ✓ You ARE the estate executor or next of kin: Use their real information
• ✗ You are NOT authorized by the estate: Use pseudonyms, nicknames, or references that don't doxx them

Why this matters:

Memorial inscriptions are permanently public and searchable. Information you include can be found by anyone, forever. Protect the privacy and safety of the deceased and their families.

Consequences:

Memorials containing doxxing information, real contact details, or identifying information without estate authorization will be edited or removed at Groundskeeper discretion. No refunds for privacy violations.

When in doubt:

• Use initials instead of full names
• Use nicknames or references only close ones would understand
• Omit locations, dates, and identifying details
• Consider: "Would I want this information about me public forever?"

ARTICLE III: PLOT TYPES & FEATURES

Section 3.1 - Standard Plots

The standard memorial entry ($2) includes:

• Database entry with inscription
• Plot coordinates
• Edit key for modifications
• Visualization across available platforms

Section 3.2 - Plot Spreads (Future)

"What if I'm 100 feet tall?"

Multiple adjacent plots may be purchased to create larger memorial spaces. Plot spreads will be available in the future for patrons requiring more expansive remembrance.

Section 3.3 - Crypts (Future)

Crypt spaces offer underground memorial rooms with:

• Custom interior environments
• Expanded personalization options
• Allowance for tasteful advertising within crypt spaces

Note: While advertising is permitted within crypts, unauthorized advertising on cemetery grounds will be removed at Groundskeeper's discretion.

Section 3.4 - Custom Tombstones (Future)

Premium tombstone designs and fully custom tombstone commissions will be available for patrons seeking unique visual representation.

ARTICLE IV: CROSS-PLATFORM REPRESENTATION

Section 4.1 - Many Worlds, One Cemetery

Your memorial exists in our database. Visits to your memorial happen across multiple platforms:

• VRChat - Immersive VR experience
• Minecraft - Block-based representation
• Web Interface - Browser-based exploration
• Future Platforms - As technology evolves

Section 4.2 - Technical Limitations

Each platform has unique technical constraints:

• VRChat supports detailed 3D geometry
• Minecraft uses block-based construction
• Web interfaces have different rendering capabilities
• Platform-specific features may not translate across all worlds

Your memorial will look different in each platform. This is expected and intentional.

Section 4.3 - Platform Availability

Platforms may become unavailable due to:

• Terms of service changes
• Technical deprecation
• Infrastructure changes

Your database entry persists even if specific platforms become unavailable. The Groundskeeper will maintain visualization on available platforms.

ARTICLE V: PERPETUAL CARE

Section 5.1 - Our Commitment

Cemetery.rest commits to best-effort perpetual maintenance including:

• Database integrity and backup
• Platform visualization when feasible
• Physical archival preservation

Section 5.2 - The Archival Ritual

The Groundskeeper performs periodic archival rituals, preserving memorial data to physical M-Disc media. These archives are designed for 1000+ year longevity.

Archival occurs:

• Every three seasons (quarterly), OR
• Every [X] new memorial entries

Section 5.3 - Ancient Order

Cemetery.rest is built for the long term. We envision this project as an ancient order - maintained and evolved across generations. While no service can guarantee eternal operation, our commitment is to perpetual preservation within the realm of technical feasibility.

ARTICLE VI: PLOT TRANSFERS & AFTERMARKET

Section 6.1 - Future Transfer System

Memorial plot transfers may become available through an official Cemetery.rest marketplace. This system will:

• Facilitate plot transfers between parties
• Maintain cemetery integrity
• Include marketplace fees paid to Spooki Urn LLC
• Require original edit key or documented ownership

Section 6.2 - Unofficial Transfers

Plot transfers occurring outside the official Cemetery.rest marketplace:

• Are not supported
• Do not include edit key transfer assistance
• May be voided at Groundskeeper discretion

Section 6.3 - The Groundskeeper's Cut

The cemetery operates through community support. Official marketplace transactions include fees that fund ongoing maintenance, physical archival, and platform development.

ARTICLE VII: EDIT KEYS & MODIFICATIONS

Section 7.1 - The Sacred Key

Your edit key is the sole method of modifying your memorial entry. This key:

• Is generated upon purchase
• Is shown to you only once
• Is NOT stored by Cemetery.rest
• Cannot be recovered if lost

Section 7.2 - Key Security

The Groundskeeper cannot assist with lost edit keys. Our no-tracking privacy model means we have no record of your key. Guard it carefully.

Section 7.3 - Key Regeneration

Each time you edit your memorial, a new edit key is generated. Previous keys become invalid. Always save your new key after editing.

ARTICLE VIII: CEMETERY AUTHORITY & THE GROUNDSKEEPER

Section 8.1 - Ownership & Operation

Cemetery.rest is owned and operated by Spooki Urn LLC. All cemetery property, data, and operations remain under company ownership.

Section 8.2 - The Groundskeeper Role

The Groundskeeper is a position within Spooki Urn LLC responsible for:

• Daily cemetery operations
• Content moderation and community standards enforcement
• Visual design and artistic direction
• Platform maintenance
• Asset curation and implementation
• Community interaction

The Groundskeeper acts with full authority granted by Spooki Urn LLC. This role may be filled by company employees, contractors, volunteers, or stewards of the cemetery.

Section 8.3 - Final Authority

While the Groundskeeper manages day-to-day operations, Spooki Urn LLC retains ultimate authority over all cemetery matters including:

• Legal decisions
• Financial operations
• Service continuity
• Major policy changes
• Asset ownership

Section 8.4 - Succession

The Groundskeeper role may transfer between individuals as the cemetery evolves. This structure allows Cemetery.rest to persist as an "ancient order" beyond any single individual's tenure.

Section 8.5 - Relocation Rights

In rare circumstances, plots may be relocated to alternate coordinates for:

• Content moderation
• Technical requirements
• Cemetery reorganization
• Artistic direction changes

Plot relocations are avoided when possible but remain within Groundskeeper authority.

Section 8.6 - Emergency Actions

In cases of extreme content violations (doxxing, harassment, threats, illegal content), the Groundskeeper may take immediate action including plot removal without notice.

ARTICLE IX: NO REFUNDS

All memorial entries are final sale. The cemetery does not provide refunds for:

• Content moderation or removal
• Plot relocation
• Platform unavailability
• Lost edit keys
• User regret

The low cost reflects the permanent, no-refund nature of cemetery plots.

ARTICLE X: AMENDMENTS

These Rules & Regulations may be updated as Cemetery.rest evolves. Updates will be posted at cemetery.rest/rules. Your memorial entry remains subject to current regulations.

ARTICLE XI: COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS & ART DONATIONS

Section 11.1 - The Spirit of Contribution

Cemetery.rest welcomes artistic contributions from the community. Talented artists may donate custom assets (tombstone designs, decorative elements, environmental pieces, lettering systems, etc.) for use within the cemetery.

Section 11.2 - Donation Framework

Donations are donations. When you contribute art assets to Cemetery.rest:

You ARE making:

• ✓ A gift to the cemetery
• ✓ Granting Spooki Urn LLC full rights to use, modify, and distribute your assets
• ✓ Contributing to the cemetery's permanent collection

You do NOT receive:

• ✗ Guaranteed implementation
• ✗ Payment or compensation
• ✗ Exclusive rights to donated assets
• ✗ Control over how or where assets are used
• ✗ Refunds or returns of donated work

Section 11.3 - Groundskeeper Curation

The Groundskeeper curates all contributed assets. Donated work may be:

• Accepted - implemented into cemetery platforms
• Modified - adjusted to fit technical or artistic requirements
• Archived - saved for potential future use
• Declined - determined not suitable for the cemetery

Acceptance decisions rest entirely with the Groundskeeper. Artists are not owed explanations for curation choices.

Section 11.4 - Platform-Specific Assets

Assets donated for specific platforms (VRChat geometry, Minecraft schematics, web textures, etc.) remain platform-specific unless adapted by the Groundskeeper.

Section 11.5 - Rights Grant

By donating art assets to Cemetery.rest, you grant Spooki Urn LLC:

• Perpetual - rights last forever
• Worldwide - usable anywhere
• Royalty-free - no payment obligation
• Transferable - can be sublicensed if needed
• Irrevocable - cannot be taken back

...rights to use, modify, reproduce, and distribute your donated work in connection with Cemetery.rest and related projects.

Section 11.6 - Artist Credit

Cemetery.rest does not track contributor identities. Donated art assets are:

• Accepted anonymously
• Integrated into the cemetery's collection
• Attributed as "community contributed" when credit is given

If you need recognition for your work, consider:

• Signing assets directly (e.g., artist signature on tombstone base texture)
• Maintaining your own portfolio of contributed work
• Reconsidering whether anonymous donation aligns with your needs

The cemetery does not maintain contributor databases or credit lists. This protects privacy and simplifies operations.

Why anonymous?

• Respects privacy (no data tracking)
• Reduces administrative burden
• Focuses on the work, not the creator
• Aligns with cemetery's minimal-data philosophy

If public recognition is important to you, anonymous donation may not be the right fit.

Section 11.7 - What Qualifies as a Donation?

Assets explicitly submitted to Cemetery.rest via:

• Official contribution submission form
• Email to [contributions email] with clear donation intent
• Community Discord channels designated for contributions

Casual suggestions or ideas shared in community spaces do not constitute formal donations and do not grant us usage rights unless explicitly donated.

Section 11.8 - Quality Standards

Donated assets must meet cemetery quality standards:

• Technical specifications - proper file formats, poly counts, texture resolutions
• Aesthetic coherence - fits cemetery's visual style
• Content appropriateness - meets community standards
• Functional viability - actually usable in intended platform

The Groundskeeper provides technical requirements upon request.

Section 11.9 - No Guaranteed Implementation

Important: Donating assets does not guarantee they will be used. The cemetery receives many contributions. Curation is necessary to maintain aesthetic coherence and technical feasibility.

Do not donate work expecting:

• Immediate implementation
• Guaranteed use
• Influence over cemetery direction
• Special plot privileges
• Compensation of any kind

Donate because you want to contribute to the project, not because you expect something in return.

Section 11.10 - Commercial Use Prohibition

Artists may NOT:

• Sell Cemetery.rest assets outside the project
• Use cemetery-specific work for commercial purposes
• Claim cemetery assets as their portfolio work unless clearly marked as "contributed to Cemetery.rest"
• Donate assets they don't have rights to

Violations may result in removal from contributor list and potential legal action.

Section 11.11 - Thank You

Cemetery.rest is built by a community of stewards. Your artistic contributions help create something lasting. Thank you for being part of this ancient order.

ARTICLE XII: SUPPORTING THE CEMETERY

Section 12.1 - The Cemetery Support Fund

Cemetery.rest operates through community support. Financial contributions help fund:

• Physical archival (M-Disc backups)
• Server infrastructure and hosting
• Platform development
• General cemetery operations

All contributions are voluntary and non-refundable.

Section 12.2 - Support Contributions

The cemetery welcomes financial support at any amount. Contributions:

• ✓ Fund infrastructure and archival
• ✓ Help maintain platform availability
• ✓ Enable the ancient order to persist

• ✗ Are NOT tax-deductible (Spooki Urn LLC is not a 501c3)

• ✗ Are NOT refundable
• ✗ Do NOT create obligations on the Groundskeeper

Contribute because you believe Cemetery.rest should exist, not because you expect something in return.

Section 12.3 - No Tracking, No Rewards Program

Cemetery.rest does not track contributors or maintain donor databases. This protects privacy and aligns with our minimal-data philosophy.

• Recurring contribution tracking

If public recognition is important to you, consider our Memorial Services instead, where your commissioned work becomes part of the cemetery.

ARTICLE XIII: MEMORIAL SERVICES

Section 13.1 - Professional Commissioned Work

Beyond standard memorial plots, Cemetery.rest offers professional memorial services for patrons seeking custom work.

Available Services:

• Memorial Stonecutting - Custom tombstone designs ($200+)
• Crypt Customization - Custom crypt interiors ($500+)
• Memorial Features - Special cemetery features (quote-based)

These are professional paid services with clear deliverables, not donations or contributions.

Section 13.2 - How Memorial Services Work

All memorial services follow this process:

1. Consultation Fee - Pay consultation fee (non-refundable), fill out detailed request questionnaire, provide plot/crypt location and vision
2. Quote & Feasibility - Groundskeeper evaluates request (2-4 weeks), provides feasibility determination, price quote, timeline estimate, quote valid for 30 days, consultation fee applies to final price if you proceed
3. Commission Agreement - Accept quote and pay remaining balance, work begins after payment received, milestone updates for complex work, timeline estimates provided (not guarantees)
4. Delivery & Implementation - Custom work implemented in cemetery, applied to your plot/crypt, asset becomes cemetery property, you receive usage of commissioned work

Section 13.3 - Memorial Stonecutting Service

• ✗ Control over asset use elsewhere in cemetery
• ✗ Guaranteed cross-platform parity
• ✗ Timeline guarantees (estimates are not contracts)

Section 13.6 - Feasibility & Refusal Rights

The Groundskeeper may decline commissions if:

• Request violates cemetery aesthetic standards
• Technical limitations prevent implementation
• Timeline unrealistic given current capacity
• Scope inappropriate for pricing
• Request conflicts with existing cemetery elements
• Platform limitations make it unfeasible

If declined after consultation fee paid:

• Consultation fee is non-refundable (covered evaluation time)
• No further payment required
• Detailed explanation of why request isn't feasible
• Suggestions for alternative approaches (if applicable)

Section 13.7 - Revision & Approval Process

For commissioned work:

Phase 1: Concept (Milestone 1)

• Groundskeeper presents initial concept
• One round of revisions included
• Must approve to proceed

Phase 2: Development (Milestone 2, if applicable)

• Work-in-progress preview
• Technical feasibility confirmed
• Adjustments if needed

Phase 3: Final Implementation

• Asset finalized and implemented
• Testing in platform
• Final adjustments for technical issues only

Revisions:

• Simple work (1 concept review, 1 revision round)
• Complex work (2-3 milestone reviews)
• Major scope changes require repricing
• Artistic direction remains with Groundskeeper

Section 13.8 - Timeline Expectations

Timelines are estimates, not guarantees. Factors affecting completion:

• Current commission queue
• Technical complications
• Platform updates/changes
• Testing and iteration needs
• Real life circumstances

Communication:

• Milestone updates at key phases
• Notification if timeline extends significantly
• No daily/weekly progress reports (wastes work time)

The Groundskeeper is an artist with limited capacity. Memorial Services are professional work, but timelines remain flexible to maintain quality.

Section 13.9 - Payment & Refund Policy

Payment Structure:

• Consultation fee: Paid upfront (non-refundable)
• Commission balance: Paid after quote acceptance, before work begins
• Consultation fee applies to commission balance

Refunds:

• Before work begins: Full refund minus consultation fee (rare, only if Groundskeeper can't proceed)
• After work begins: No refunds
• If Groundskeeper can't complete: Pro-rated refund at Groundskeeper's discretion
• If you change mind: No refunds
• If timeline extends: No refunds

Non-refundable scenarios:

• You don't like final style (artistic direction is Groundskeeper's)
• Takes longer than estimated (timelines are estimates)
• Platform becomes unavailable after work completed
• You decide you don't want custom work anymore
• Asset looks different across platforms (technical limitations)

Section 13.10 - Asset Ownership & Usage

All commissioned work becomes cemetery property (owned by Spooki Urn LLC).

You receive:

• ✓ Perpetual usage of asset for your memorial
• ✓ Implementation across available platforms
• ✓ Maintenance if technical updates needed

Cemetery retains:

• ✓ Full ownership of 3D assets, textures, models
• ✓ Right to use asset elsewhere in cemetery
• ✓ Right to modify asset for technical reasons
• ✓ Right to adapt asset to other platforms

You do NOT receive:

• ✗ Source files (FBX, Blend, PSD, etc.)

• ✗ Control over cross-platform adaptation

Why cemetery ownership?

• Assets must be maintained long-term

Section 13.11 - Platform-Specific Work

Commissioned work is created for specific platforms.

Cross-platform adaptation:

• Requires separate work (recreating in different tech)
• Not included in base price unless quoted
• May not be technically feasible
• Groundskeeper decides what's adapted

If you want guaranteed multi-platform:

• Request this in consultation questionnaire
• Will affect pricing (more work per platform)
• Some complex features may not translate

Section 13.12 - Quality Standards

Commissioned work will:

• ✓ Meet technical specifications for platform
• ✓ Function properly in cemetery environment
• ✓ Match quoted complexity level
• ✓ Integrate aesthetically with cemetery

Commissioned work may NOT:

• ✗ Match your exact mental vision (Groundskeeper has artistic direction)
• ✗ Include every requested detail (scope/budget limits)
• ✗ Look photorealistic (platform limitations)
• ✗ Be the absolute highest poly-count possible (performance considerations)

If you're unhappy with final work:

• Minor technical issues will be fixed
• Artistic differences are not grounds for refund
• Scope creep beyond quote requires repricing
• Quality matches quoted tier and price

Section 13.13 - Getting Started
